VICTORIA CITY ROWING CLUB ATHLETES COMPLETE NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS

Elk Lake, BC – The Victoria City Rowing Club is proud to announce that four current members and seven club alumni earned medals at the 2017 RCA National Rowing Championships this past weekend in Burnaby, BC.
Ivy Elling Quaintance captured the gold medal in the Under-23 Pair, while Emma Gribbon and Danae McCulloch earned a gold medal in the Junior Pair. In the Under-23 Single meanwhile, Antonia Frappell was awarded the bronze medal.
“We definitely had some hard and fast races,” said Danae McCulloch following the regatta. “We did everything we could, and it was a great experience to be up against stronger and more experienced boats.”
Representing the VCRC’s alumni, Brendan Wall won the gold medals in both the Junior and Under-23 Pair. Patrick Keane brought home gold in both the Under-23 Lightweight and Lightweight Single. The gold medal for Under-23 Single and silver for the Women’s Single was won by Caileigh Filmer.
Maxine Chapman and Isaac Donaldson both earned silver medals in the Under-23 Pair, while Piper Battersby and Morgan Cathrea won bronze medals in the Under-23 Pair and Women’s Pair respectively.
