Notes:
- Master program participants may row and use the facilities at times other than their scheduled program times, but must allow any other scheduled session/program to get underway before taking any equipment (allow for 15 minutes after the program start time).
- To row unsupervised, the member must first pass a boating competency and safety test and must always carry an approved personal flotation device.
A note about Regattas:
Only Master, Senior and Non-coached (no program) members may race in Regattas. Set term programs such Learn to Row, Recreational Rowing and Corporate Challenge are considered “non-competitive” and participants are not eligible to compete in Rowing Canada sanctioned events. Regatta fee coordination is managed by a team of VCRC staff, Club members/volunteers who handle logistics such as collecting regatta fees, making travel arrangements, coordinating boat loading, and truck/trailer transportation arrangements.
The membership fee covers work by Club staff to organize boat allocation and submit VCRC member entries for Local and Away(1) Regattas. For Master program participants it also includes the attendance of the Head Coach at Local Regattas. Member fees do not cover Coach expenses for “Away Regattas”. Generally, the members attending the “Away Regatta” decide if they want coach support at the event. If so, those attending fund the following for the Master Coach: travel/accommodation arrangements and costs, expenses incurred by the Head Coach, and compensation for coaching support, as determined by those participating. Away Regattas also carry additional fees for travel costs if club boats and equipment are being transported and will vary depending on regatta location.
(1) Away Regattas are defined as those occurring outside of the Capital Regional District.
