For inquires about the Junior Program, please contact the Head Coach Aalbert Van Schothorst.
We are excited to offer competitive rowing programs for youth aged 12-18 years old. We offer four different programs to best suit our junior athletes from November to August. These categories are based on the athlete’s age and commitment level. All our programs support the Long-Term Athlete Development Plan (LTAD) developed by Sport Canada and Rowing Canada Aviron.

The following Junior Age categories will determine, for the most part, what group a Junior athlete will participate in:
Junior A: Born 1992 - 1993
Junior B: Born 1994 - 1995
Junior C: Born 1996 - 1997
Junior A National
Commitment: 6 days per week
For those experienced athletes who are committed to training hard and competing. These athletes will compete in most of the local regattas and possibly some major North American and International regattas. This program is developed for the athletes who have aspirations to make the Provincial and/or Canadian Junior National teams, and is based on the LTAD's Learning to Compete stage.
Junior A Provincial
Commitment: 4 days per week
For those athletes who are new to rowing or wish to base training around a more flexible schedule. These athletes will compete in the Island regattas and potentially some Vancouver-based regattas.
Junior B
Commitment: 4 days per week
For those athletes who are wanting to train and compete in a structured team environment. Different experience levels are welcomed. These athletes will compete in the Island regattas, and possibly some Vancouver-based and major North American regattas.
Junior C
Commitment: 3 days per week
For those participants who are interested in competing and learning more about rowing. This group will be attending Island regattas throughout the season.
* Note: Certain regattas have limited entries so there will be crew selection.
