Masters Program Head Coach & Program Coordinator - Jesse Hume
Jesse Hume began his competitive rowing career at Stelly’s Secondary School back in 2000. He transitioned to the VCRC junior program, rowing for both club and high school leagues for 4 years. After graduation, he moved to Perth, Australia where he coached for various private school crews while rowing the University of Western Australia Boat Club. Jesse returned to Victoria, rowing for the UVic during the 2005-2007 seasons while he pursued his degree.
Jesse re-joined the VCRC team in 2007, initially rowing as a senior, and then started coaching with the Junior Program in 2008. He was appointed the Jr. A Girls head coach in 2009. His athletes have excelled at both local and away regattas including Royal Canadian Henley where his A Girls quad won Henley Gold in 2011. Jesse was named to the Team BC coaching staff for the 2011 Western Canada Summer games. The continued success of the A Girls program under Jesse's direction has attracted attention of top university scouts from all over North America.
In the fall of 2010, Jesse added the roles of Master's Head Coach and Programs Coordinator, continuing to expand his coaching skills. His leadership in these programs has created a quiet confidence in his abilities to coach a broad spectrum of athletes. We look forward to keeping Jesse as part of the club for many years to come.
